If you are getting stuck:

  • Your buildings must be placed on an infested tile with no other building or resource on it. Resource harvesting buildings will harvest resources in adjacent tiles. For example, gnaw must be placed next to a forest, not inside a forest.
  • Playing Gnaw next to a forest will harvest wood,  allowing you to buy a Dissolve card,  which will harvest stone. Once you have stone you can buy Engorge, which will harvest coal.
  • In order to win the game, you must purchase and use the Consume Everything card available in the Evolve store.

Take the role of an eldritch horror bursting through the ground during the Industrial Revolution.  Combine tower defense and card play as you expand and devour. Plan ahead! Every time you act, the angry mob takes one step closer to your hive.

great game! would love to see more of this

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the concept.

Cool game! Love the graphics!

Thanks so much, Jim! That was our artists' very first time trying this out, they'll love to hear that.

This has got to be the most innovative game I've played so far from the game jam submissions. You all created a new genre and that's not an easy feat.

The soundtrack is fitting, the graphics really blend well together. Congrats everyone! I hope to see more from you in the future!

Well thank you so much! Incredibly kind words. The team will love to hear this.

Great job! You started with a base concept that was fun, and added really nice graphics to make it appealing. I liked all of the squelching and nasty sounds that this game offers. The card art is appealing and it's pretty clear what each card does, plus the tutorial helps.

I did have some issues reading some of the cards which may be because i'm playing on web. I wasn't always certain what would be the best strategy or how to collect new card types. There is also a common card state based issue when highlighting over the bottom of the card, causing it to flash.

Overall, the gameplay felt fair, and relatively sticky. With a bit more polish and a clear end/win state, this could be pretty addicting. Excellent!

Thanks, Colton! Yes, we all agree that a good UX pass would boost this quite heavily. We're confident in the bones, just gotta refine the surface layer!

As a note, there is a clear win state! You need to purchase and play the "Consume Everything" card in the Evolve store. When played, it takes 50 turns. If you are still standing at the end, you spread over the entire island NOM NOM NOM

(+1)

oh gotcha! Then I was fifty turns to victory!

Well done!

Thank you so much!

Great concept and execution! Really made me plan everything out! Awesome job!

Thank you so much! Planning ahead was a huge goal for the design. Glad to hear it landed!

Dope game! I loved it! Well done team!

Thanks so much for checking it out! We have many plans to improve it dramatically, but we're thrilled to have built our first game jam submission.
